The BSA's 2013 survey reports a headline figure of 29% of people in Wales as saying they were prejudiced. Aled Edwards, chairman of Wales Migration Partnership, said the economic situation drove the response to some of the survey.
While the study surveyed more than 5,000 people over two years across Britain, the sample size in Wales was less than 300 - making definitive conclusions difficult.
The only UK region that saw a bigger increase than Wales in the latest survey was the north east of England where there was a rise of 16%.
