Police have confirmed details of the crash, which happened in the Kings Park area of Glasgow on Friday evening.

They said the police car was travelling along Carmunnock Road when it collided with a Volkswagen Polo which crossed its path from a side street.

The 55-year-old female driver of the Polo was uninjured but the 86-year-old male passenger died on Tuesday morning.

The 35-year-old female officer who was driving the police vehicle was treated at the Victoria Infirmary for a minor injury and later released.

Her 29-year-old male colleague was uninjured and did not require medical treatment.

A full report on the circumstances will be forwarded to the procurator fiscal. Police appealed for witnesses to contact them.
