Youth arrested after man's death

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead at a house in the south Wales valleys.

The teenager is also being questioned on suspicion of burglary in connection with the incident at Merthyr Tydfil.

Police launched a murder investigation after the body of the man, who was thought to be in his 50s, was found on Monday at 1325 GMT.

Officers are appealing for information and an incident room has been set up.

The man's body was discovered at Fifth Avenue in the Galon Uchaf area of the town after concerns were raised by a neighbour.

Police want to speak to anyone who has seen activity in and around the house over the last two weeks.

Investigation

His identity has not yet been confirmed, but police are trying to contact relatives of the occupier of the property.

The arrested teenager is being questioned at a police station in south Wales.

Detective Superintendent Paul Kemp, who is leading the inquiry, said: "I am anxious to speak to anyone who has seen any activity in and around this house in the last week or two including any persons seen entering or leaving.

"I am also keen to find out more about the occupant of the property.

"You may think information you have is insignificant but it could be vital to our investigation."
