Two men who plotted to murder soul singer Joss Stone at her home in Devon have appealed against their sentences.

Junior Bradshaw, 33, and Kevin Liverpool, 36, were convicted last year of conspiracy to murder and rob the singer at her home in Ashill in 2011.

Liverpool was jailed for life with a recommendation that he serve at least 10 years. Bradshaw jailed for 18 years.

Judges at the Court of Appeal in London said they would announce their decision on Tuesday.

Both men appeared at the appeal proceedings.

The flatmates, of St Stephen's Close, Longsight, Manchester, had scouted Miss Stone's home and were on their way to attack her when they were arrested in Cullompton, Devon, in June 2011.

Miss Stone was at her home when the pair were arrested nearby.

Residents called the police after spotting their badly-damaged Fiat Punto in the area.

The pair told police they were lost and were trying to get to Bristol but a search of their car revealed a body bag, a sword, knives, hammers, masks, gloves and a hosepipe.

During the pair's trial, Judge Francis Gilbert said Liverpool was a danger to the public and said he targeted Miss Stone to get more than £1m from her.

He told him: "You intended to rob her and kill her and dump her body in the river, according to your words, and then leave the country with your accomplice Junior Bradshaw.

"You had no reason to target her except that she was a wealthy young woman as she was a successful singer."

In 2006, Miss Stone was named the youngest woman on the Sunday Times Rich List, with an estimated fortune of £6m, which had increased to an estimated £10m by 2012.
