Jay Z and Solange Knowles: we've put this 'private matter' behind us
http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/may/15/solange-knowles-jay-z-beyonce-respond-elevator-video Version 0 of 1. Yes, that was them kickboxing in the elevator, but they’re over it now – and you should be too. That’s the gist of a statement released Thursday by the pop royalty trio of Beyoncé, husband Jay Z and sister Solange Knowles, after security footage emerged earlier this week of Solange physically attacking her brother-in-law inside an elevator at Manhattan’s Standard Hotel. “As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident,” the three said in the statement, first obtained by the Associated Press. “But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it.” The release of the footage, first published by the celebrity news site TMZ, set off fevered speculation earlier this week among pop fans unaccustomed to hints of conflict in the superstar family. The statement denied that Solange, 27, who can be seen in the video attacking Jay Z with punches and wild kicks, was intoxicated. “Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred,” the statement read: They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family. The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same. The hotel said it had fired the employee who removed the footage, by filming it from a security monitor, the AP reported. |
