Version 0 of 1.

A vicar's son working in a Christian mission has died in Hong Kong.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said the cause of death of James Skinner, 21, is not known.

Mr Skinner, who was working in a mission in Kowloon, is the son of Graeme Skinner, vicar of St Mary's Church, Upton, Wirral.

Reverend Martin Daly, assistant vicar at the church, said: "We were desperately sorry to hear the news. We are praying for the family."

The Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We can confirm British national James Skinner has died in Hong Kong on 7 November. The next of kin has been informed.

"Any investigation is a matter for local police."

Mr Daly added: "Graeme had been here at the church for just over a year and for that time James was in Hong Kong.

"When I last saw them they were coping remarkably well. They have a strong faith. I expect Graeme and Philippa (James's mother) to be away about a week."

Mr Daly said he had not heard anything suspicious about the death and that the three members of the Church of England clergy would take services while Mr Skinner was in Hong Kong.
