Justin Bieber accused of attempted robbery, Los Angeles police say Justin Bieber investigated by LA police over alleged attempted robbery
(about 7 hours later)
Justin Bieber has been accused of attempted robbery, a Los Angeles police department official has said, following media reports that he had tried to snatch a young woman's mobile telephone. Justin Bieber is reportedly being investigated for attempted robbery after a woman told Los Angeles police that he retaliated when he believed she was snapping photos of him.
The singer, 20, has not been arrested or questioned, said LAPD spokeswoman Rosario Herrera. A spokeswoman for Bieber did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The woman told police that Bieber demanded to see her phone after he believed she was taking pictures of him at a mini golf course Monday night, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Detectives have interviewed the victim, who reported the alleged crime, Herrera said. The incident occurred at about 10.30pm on Monday in the Van Nuys area of the city. When she refused, the Canadian pop star snatched her phone out of her purse and then forced her to unlock the phone so he could delete photos, she told TMZ.
Media reported Bieber allegedly tried to take a young woman's mobile phone, according to the Los Angeles police department. The woman said Bieber didn't find any photos and told him that she and her 13-year-old daughter wanted to say hello, TMZ reported.
It was reported to police on Tuesday. No other information was available. The singer allegedly shot back: "You're humiliating yourself in front of your daughter. Why don't you just get out of here?"
The Canadian singer is due to stand trial in July in Miami on charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and using an expired licence. In February, Bieber was charged with assaulting a limousine driver in Toronto. No charges have been filed against Bieber.
In February, Bieber was investigated for allegedly egging a neighbour's house in an incident that reportedly caused $20,000 worth of damage.
A couple weeks before the egging took place, Bieber was arrested for allegedly racing a Lamborghini through a neighborhood in Miami Beach, Florida.
