Elderly woman dies after house fire in Pontllanfraith

An elderly woman has died following a fire at a house in Caerphilly county borough.

Three crews were called to the blaze at the home in Pontllanfraith, near Blackwood, at about 13:58 BST on Tuesday.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the woman was rescued by firefighters, but later died.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will begin on Wednesday.
