Version 0 of 1.

A man has died after collapsing near the summit of Snowdon, prompting an air and land rescue in thick cloud.

The man, who was in his fifties and from the West Midlands, was on the Pyg Track near the 3,560ft summit.

Llanberis mountain rescue team members carried the man down the mountain but it was later confirmed he had died. It is suspected he had a heart attack.

Twenty four rescuers were involved, and some were lifted by an RAF helicopter to just below the 1,300ft cloud base.

They then completed the rescue operation on foot.
