Third arrest over farmhouse death

A third man has been arrested over the murder of a 39-year-old woman at a Cornish farmhouse.

Michelle Crossley's body was found at the house in Laity Wendron near Helston on Sunday with serious head injuries and multiple stab wounds.

A 21-year-old man from the Redruth area was arrested overnight.

A 64-year-old man has been released without charge. A 42-year-old man from Redruth who was arrested on Wednesday remains in custody.

Police have been given an extension until 1600 GMT to question him.

Police believe Mrs Crossley had been dead for a number of hours when her body was discovered inside Carneborne Farmhouse.

Police believe two weapons were used including a knife with a minimum blade length of 4in (10cm).

A major incident room has been set up at Camborne Police Station and 45 officers are involved.

They are appealing for anyone with information about Mrs Crossley, and her life, to come forward.

Mrs Crossley was last heard from in a phone call at 1730 GMT on Saturday.

Owners of CCTV equipment were asked by police to keep footage from 3 and 4 November, particularly in the areas of Helston, Camborne, Redruth and Penryn.
