Version 0 of 1.

Fire crews dealing with a major blaze at a recycling plant in Hull will remain at the site for at least another 48 hours, fire chiefs said.

Six crews were deployed to the fire, at Taylors Recycling Services in Century Road, Saltend, at 12:45 BST on Sunday, where packed paper was alight.

Humberside Fire and Rescue area manager Nick Grainger said the fire had caused extensive damage to the site.

He said crews would remain on site until the fire burned out.

Standby crews were sent as firefighters were taking part in strike action.

Mr Grainger said: "Fires of this sort are enormously challenging and the damage has been huge.

"Crews will remain there for the next 48 hours or so, just until it burns through."

No-one was injured but people living nearby were told to keep doors and windows shut.

The nearby A1033 Hedon Road was also closed both ways due to smoke blowing across the road.
