A person has died and a man is in a critical condition after a blaze at a house in Leeds, police have confirmed. Two people have died in a blaze at a house near Leeds.

Det Insp Steve Lavelle, of Leeds District CID, said the man was in a critical condition and that inquiries into the fire were at an early stage. The initial call to the emergency services reported a "fire, possibly an explosion". Four fire crews were sent to the scene and managed to contain the spread of the blaze.
Neighbours have been evacuated from their homes.
The gas board has been at the scene.
