A member of staff rang 999 after finding two residents dead in a room at the Hayes Park nursing home in Rowlatts Hill just before 0400 GMT on Wednesday. | |
Officers have cordoned off part of the area around the home and have sealed off some of the building. | |
Detectives are now waiting for the results of post-mortem tests. | |
Det Supt Chris Thomas, who is leading the investigation, said: "This is a serious incident. There is a large cordon and we are carrying out a detailed examination at the home. | |
"There is a post-mortem examination due to take place and this will help us to establish exactly what happened. | |
"I do not want people to worry unnecessarily but personal safety is always important so I urge local people to be vigilant, keep their doors and windows locked and to report anything suspicious to the police." | |
Neither of the victims have yet been formally identified but police have contacted the families of the women. |
