Police investigate toddler death

Police are investigating the death of a two-year-old boy in Runcorn.

Paramedics were called to a house in the town at about 2230 GMT on Tuesday. Once on the scene, they then alerted Cheshire Police.

A 22-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, both from Runcorn, are being held in connection with the incident and are assisting police with their inquiries.

A post-mortem examination will take place later to establish the toddler's cause of death.
