Police are hunting a man who they say could be linked to at least three attacks over the last 13 years around south London. The suspect, posing as a photographer, approaches young women offering them opportunities for modelling. He then assaults his victims on photo-shoots. Officers were alerted when a woman approached them after hearing about a similar attack in February 2005. Police said the attacker is white, in his 50s and about 5ft 10in tall. The man responsible for these crimes is taking advantage by preying on the aspirations of young women Det Sgt Nigel Tolson A woman told police she was 17 years old when a man approached her in a car at a bus station in Thamesmead in 1993, handed her a business card and offered to do a photo-shoot. The woman said she was raped by him after a photo-shoot at his house. She claims her drink was spiked. In November 2005, a 23-year-old was attacked after she answered an advertisement for modelling for a clothes catalogue posted at a newsagent's window in Dartford. Police have appealed for information and said there may be other victims who have not reported an assault. White Golf Det Sgt Nigel Tolson, from Bexley CID, said: "The man responsible for these crimes is taking advantage by preying on the aspirations of young women... I would urge any victim of a sexual offence to contact police." The suspect is described as having short black hair tied in a ponytail, medium build, slightly "podgy", with a husky voice and wears heeled boots. Victims said he drives a white Golf and a burgundy Porsche. A man, 60, who was arrested in January from Essex, has been released on bail. |
