A man, believed to be in his 20s, is being treated for serious head injuries after he fell from a taxi.

Police said the student was found lying on Baird Street in Glasgow at about 0350 GMT on Tuesday. He was taken to the city's Royal Infirmary.

It is thought he had been travelling in a black Hackney taxi from Queen Street in Glasgow city centre.

His condition was described as very serious. Sgt Iain Pittams has appealed to the taxi driver to come forward.

He was described as 40 to 50 years old, 5ft 7in tall, of heavy build with short grey hair and has a long grey moustache.
