Version 0 of 1.

Eleven people were killed in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, when a grenade exploded at a funeral, the Red Cross said Friday. The United Nations Children’s Fund said that three of the dead were children. Thousands of people have been killed in communal violence since a mostly Muslim group of northern rebels seized power last year. While in power, the rebels’ government was accused of carrying out abuses against Christians and was ousted in January under international pressure, giving way to an interim civilian government. But since the rebels’ ouster, Christian militias have attacked Muslims and thousands have been forced to flee their homes. The interim government and about 8,000 peacekeepers sent by France and the African Union have so far been unable to halt the violence.
