France: Actress Wins Privacy Case France: Actress Wins Privacy Case
(about 1 hour later)
A French court has ordered Closer magazine to pay 15,000 euros, about $20,700, to an actress for publishing photographs of what it said showed President François Hollande visiting her for a tryst. Mr. Hollande and his partner, Valérie Trierweiler, broke up within days of the photos’ publication in Closer in January. He has never denied an affair with the actress, Julie Gayet. Ms. Gayet sued the magazine for violation of privacy, and a court in a Paris suburb ruled Thursday in her favor. It also ordered Closer to publish the verdict on its cover. Ms. Trierweiler also won an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit against the magazine this month.
