A man accused of killing Wakefield woman Stephanie Hammill after she jumped or fell from his moving car has been found guilty of kidnap. Jurors trying Ioannis Revenikiotis, 28, returned the verdict at Sheffield Crown Court, but were told to continue considering a manslaughter charge. Revenikiotis, of School Crescent, Dewsbury, picked up Ms Hammill as she looked for a taxi in November 2003. Judge Justice Wilkie has told the jury he will accept a majority verdict. Originally from Greece, Revenikiotis sped off in his Mercedes car when Ms Hammill got in, leaving her boyfriend James Garland behind. Her body was later found lying in the road on the edge of the city. She had been hit by another vehicle, jurors heard. The jury of three men and nine women returned the guilty verdict on the kidnap charge after a day and a half of deliberations. |
