Version 0 of 1.

Israeli forces have launched raids into southern and northern Gaza, sparking fierce clashes with Palestinian gunmen.

Three Palestinians and an Israeli soldier were killed. At least two of the Palestinians were from Hamas, the militant group that controls Gaza.

The Israeli army said the raids were aimed at dismantling what it called terrorist infrastructure.

In the West Bank, an Israeli soldier was injured in a gun battle near Nablus. Several suspects were detained.

Hamas said the Israeli soldier was killed in the northern Gaza clash when its fighters fired an anti-tank rocket at troops near Beit Hanoun.

Israel did not confirm the mode of the attack but said the soldier was a reservist.

Palestinian militants frequently fire home-made rockets from Gaza into southern Israel and Israel's army regularly conducts raids into Gaza, although Israeli fatalities are rare.
