Pipe bomb victim attacked again
(about 5 hours later) | |
A County Armagh man has been attacked just hours after a pipe bomb was discovered at his home.
A number of houses had to be evacuated in Lurgan overnight after the device was found under a child's trampoline.
The householder said it was the latest incident in a campaign of intimidation against him and his family.
He said he and his father-in-law were assaulted by a gang at about noon on Saturday and needed treatment for their injuries.
He said he believed the same people were responsible for all of the attacks and that they came from within the mainly loyalist Mourneview area.
Earlier, the fire and rescue service and police were called to the house in Princeton Avenue after the man's car was set alight.
They found the device under the trampoline in the garden, below where a nine-year-old girl had been sleeping.
Army technical experts removed the device and a number of other items.
It is understood police do not believe the attack was sectarian. The car was badly damaged in the incident. | It is understood police do not believe the attack was sectarian. The car was badly damaged in the incident. |
