'New death threats' to Sinn Fein
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/northern_ireland/7059778.stm Version 0 of 1. Five Sinn Fein councillors in North Belfast and Newtownabbey have received renewed death threats, according to junior minister Gerry Kelly. Mr Kelly said the councillors, who were nominated to serve on District Policing Partnerships, would not be intimidated. The same five people were warned by police on Sunday that their lives were under threat from dissident republicans, he said. Mr Kelly said they were visited by police for a second time on Tuesday. "The PSNI once again visited the homes of the five councillors informing them that these threats to their lives had once again been issued," he said. "I have to say those behind these threats need to reflect long and hard on their position. "These threats and campaigns of violence against our party failed in the past to stop us representing the people who elect us and they will continue to fail in the future." |
