Man held over 'siege' body find Man faces 'siege' murder charge

A 26-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of a body at a house in West Lothian. A 26-year-old man has appeared in private at Linlithgow Sheriff Court following the discovery of a body in West Lothian at the weekend.
The body of the 32-year-old man was found after an incident in East Calder at about 1600 BST on Sunday. Thomas Tant appeared on petition on Tuesday charged with murder.
Officers were sent to the quiet village, responding to reports of a siege at the property in Redcraig Road. He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.
A man was arrested later and charged in connection with the body find. He is expected to appear at Linlithgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday. Mr Tant was remanded in custody. The body of a 32-year-old man was found after an incident in East Calder at about 1600 BST on Sunday.
Several ambulances were also called out to the incident, which ended just after 1800 BST.
A statement issued by the force said: "A man has been detained by police following an incident at a house in East Calder, West Lothian.
"An incident occurred at about 1600 BST on Sunday, as a result of which police discovered the body of a man inside the house.
"Police are treating the death as suspicious and an investigation is continuing."
A woman who watched the operation told BBC Radio Scotland of her shock at the events unfolding on her doorstep.
"Nothing happens here, nothing at all," she said.
