"In fact he was back on the river at 0930 BST and being chased by paparazzi hiding in the bushes," added Mr McLaurin.
The couple announced their separation last month after it was reported that Tarrant was accused of having an affair.
He said at the time: "I only have myself to blame for the breakdown of my marriage."
His wife Ingrid, 51, is said to be consulting divorce lawyers, seeking an end to their relationship.
