People in Liverpool are receiving their post for the first time in two weeks, after Royal Mail staff voted to end their wildcat strikes.

Staff first walked out on 4 October as part of an official national strike.

They continued with unofficial action, centred on a dispute over changes to shift patterns, which affected 21 sorting offices across the area.

At a meeting on Thursday about 90% of members of the Communication Workers Union voted to return to work.

They immediately went back to their duties.

Branch secretary Mark Walsh said negotiations about shift times would continue

Staff have been told flexible working appeared to be contained in the national deal currently under discussion at the TUC.
