A judge has blocked payment of a £1m bingo win because of a family dispute over the prize money.

Jean McCullagh, 69, from Uddingston in South Lanarkshire, won the jackpot at the Glasgow Forge Mecca hall on Friday.

However, her sister and two sisters-in-law said they had all made an agreement to split the cash.

At the Court of Session in Edinburgh, Lord Brodie ordered Mecca to block the payment. Ms McCullagh's bank account was frozen pending a further hearing.

The prize money was due to be paid into her account.

The four women were playing together at the bingo hall when Ms McCullagh hit the jackpot.

She was the second £1m winner at the hall in just three weeks, which led its owners to hail it the luckiest bingo venue in Britain.

Two of those playing with her, Rose McCullagh and Jessie McCullagh, both sisters-in-law, have now hired lawyers in an attempt to get a share of the win.

The first to win £1m at Glasgow Forge was 46-year-old Margaret Shearer.

She became Britain's first bingo club millionaire last month, after a change in the law increased the size of the jackpot allowed.
