Robbers stab man over lap-top bag

A 18-year-old student was stabbed in the stomach during a robbery in Manchester city centre.

The victim walked into a shop on Tib Street to alert staff and customers that he had been attacked when two men tried to steal an empty lap-top bag.

Witnesses to the incident, which happened on Oak Street in the Smithfield area of the city on Friday afternoon, are asked to contact police.

Two men, aged 20 and 36 years, have been arrested.

The victim is being treated at the Manchester Royal Infirmary but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.
