One child was burned and eight others were injured when a fire broke out in a terraced house in east London.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) said a bedroom to the rear on the first floor of the house was substantially damaged.

The blaze broke out in the two-storied house in Moresby Road, Hackney, at 2250 BST on Wednesday.

One child suffered 25% burns while the others suffered from smoke inhalation. All nine children had escaped from the house before firemen reached the scene.

The bedroom suffered 50% damage in the blaze, a LFB spokeswoman said.
