Cpl Wright joined the Army in January 1999, successfully completed the gruelling Combat Infantryman's Course and Pre-Parachute Selection. Cpl Wright joined the Army in January 1999, later completing the gruelling training to become a paratrooper.
After passing the Basic Parachute Course at RAF Brize Norton, in Oxfordshire, he was posted to the 3rd Battalion, the Parachute Regiment in October later that year. Within his first three years, he had completed three tours of Northern Ireland, and was later deployed to Iraq.
Promoted to corporal L/Cpl Muirhead was fatally injured in an attack on his base at Musa Quala, Helmand Province. Another soldier died during the fighting .
