Billionaire property tycoon Donald Trump is to visit Scotland to check on plans for his proposed golf resort in Aberdeenshire. American billionaire Donald Trump has insisted his proposed £1bn golf resort in Aberdeenshire will actually improve the environment.
The visit will be his first to the Menie Estate since council planners gave the £1bn proposals their backing. Mr Trump flew in to spend the day on the Menie Estate, north of Aberdeen, where he wants to create "the best golf resort in the world".
Mr Trump, who is due to arrive on Monday, has vowed to build the "best golf resort in the world" at the coastal site near Balmedie. His plans have attracted opposition from environmental groups.
Mr Trump told a media conference the project would have cost a lot less if he did not care about the environment.

Mr Trump said: "Each and every golf course I have built has got awards for environmental protection and I do not think anyone has got as many awards as we have.
"I believe environmentally when we are finished the course will be better environmentally than before we started.
"It's possible I could lose a great deal of money. It would cost a lot less money if we did not care about the environment."
