Detectives are searching for a hit-and-run driver after a 38-year-old woman was killed in Glasgow. A woman killed by a hit-and-run driver may have been lying on the road when she was struck, police believe.
Hazel McCabe, of Barlanark Road, Glasgow, suffered fatal injuries in the hit-and-run incident on Edinburgh Road at 2325 BST on Saturday night. Hazel McCabe, 38, suffered fatal injuries after the collision in Glasgow's east end late on Saturday night.
Strathclyde Police said she was struck close to a pedestrian crossing and appealed for witnesses. Ms McCabe died after being struck by a car heading west along Edinburgh Road in the Barlanark area of the city.
Meanwhile, a man has died after he was hit by a car at 0130 BST on Sunday, on Lanark Road, near Carstairs. The driver failed to stop after the incident and is being sought by Strathclyde Police.
In relation to the hit-and-run, police said they wanted to speak the drivers of several cars seen in the area at the time, including one which was silver coloured. Officers have not yet managed to identify the vehicle involved.

Insp Kenneth Welsh, from the force's road policing unit, said he believed that Ms McCabe, who lived alone, was lying on the roadway at the time of the collision, but it was not yet known how she came to be there.
He said: "My understanding is that she was on the roadway at the time, but she wasn't standing on the roadway.
"We believe she may have been lying down. Whether she did that voluntarily, or had previously been the victim of an assault or something, we don't know.
"We are not ruling anything in or our at this stage and investigations are at an early stage."
The collision happened at 2325 BST on a well-lit part of the road and in good driving conditions, Insp Welsh said.
Silver saloon
The officer added that he thought it likely the car involved would have known a collision had occurred.
He said the car involved may have been a silver saloon and appealed for any drivers in the area at the time to get in touch.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian who died after being hit by a car at 0130 BST on Sunday, on Lanark Road, near Carstairs, has been named as William Slavin, 54, from Darlington.
He was walking on the carriageway when he was struck by a Peugeot driven by a 24-year-old man. Mr Slavin died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the car was uninjured.
