'Very useful' Mr Lochhead said afterwards: "I was very pleased to host this historic meeting.
Speaking of Fisheries Minister Jonathan Shaw's visit from Westminster, Mr Lochhead said: "I warmly welcome the fact that Mr Shaw was able to accept my invitation and make the time to come to Scotland. "It was the first opportunity for the four administrations to have friendly and frank exchanges on the future of a number of issues facing our fisheries.
"I look forward to developing a cordial and constructive relationship. "A follow-up meeting is planned for later this month in Brussels, where ministers will meet the Fisheries Commissioner Joe Borg."
