A rescue operation has been launched after a small fishing boat was found broken up on rocks on the Aberdeenshire coast. Rescuers are searching for a fisherman whose boat was found broken up on rocks on the Aberdeenshire coast.

Rescuers said there was no sign of the skipper of the boat involved. A lifeboat and helicopter have been called to the area. Grampian Police confirmed that a local lobster fisherman failed to return after setting off from Portlethen in the morning.
A spokeswoman for Aberdeen Coastguard said no further details were available amid a continuing rescue operation. Lifeboat crews, coastguard teams and an RAF helicopter have been involved in the search.
The wreckage of the creel boat was spotted from the shore at about 1710 BST.
It was also found to be overdue at Stonehaven Harbour.
Aberdeen Coastguard watch manager Matthew Mace said: "We are currently undergoing a search for a fisherman after an overturned fishing vessel was sighted off the Portlethen shore.
"There are light south easterly winds and choppy seas, and although visibility has been good throughout the search, it is now dark."
