A 15-year-old girl was raped in Glasgow by a man she had been seen with earlier in the evening, according to police.

The schoolgirl was attacked between Port Dundas Road and North Hanover Street between 2230 BST and 2330 BST on Saturday.

Strathclyde Police said the man, who was aged 17 to 19, had earlier been in the girl's company in the city centre.

He was described as being thin with short brown hair. He was wearing a light blue, striped jumper.

Det Sgt Scott Douglas, from Strathclyde CID, said: "I would like to speak to anyone who has any information in relation to this assault, and in particular a group of eight students who were seen leaving Caledonian University campus and walking in the direction of the city centre around the time of this incident."

Anyone with information should call Strathclyde Police on 0141 532 3036 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
