Traffic chaos after M-way crashes
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/england/7021583.stm Version 0 of 1. Traffic queues up to 12 miles long built up on the M25 after an accident in heavy rain in the morning rush hour. A van hit the central reservation on the anti-clockwise section between junction six for Godstone, Surrey, and junction five for Sevenoaks, Kent. The vehicle was removed but lanes on both sides of the motorway had to be closed for repairs to barriers. At one point, traffic was queuing back to junction three. Earlier, two lanes of the London-bound M20 were also shut. An accident involving a lorry and a car at the M20 junction with the A20 for Maidstone added to the traffic chaos in the area. Police said there were no serious injuries in either of the accidents. The tail-backs came four days after 60-mile queues were reported on the M25 after a lorry jack-knifed. The vehicle shed a load of soil and went through the central reservation between junctions four and five in west Kent on Friday. |
