A man has been taken to hospital with head injuries after being attacked by Napoli fans at a restaurant before Arsenal's Champions League match. | |
The 48-year-old man was taken to Whittington Hospital, in north London, with cuts to his head after he was struck with a metal chair. | |
The victim was sitting outside the Piebury Corner restaurant near the Emirates Stadium. | |
The restaurant manager blamed Napoli fans and said his property was damaged. | |
Smashed window | |
Police said about 30 Napoli fans were involved in a verbal exchange with Arsenal fans as they passed the restaurant. | |
The Napoli supporters then smashed a window and threw chairs before moving on, the Met said. | |
The man has since been discharged from hospital and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. | |
Piebury Corner manager Paul Campbell said: "The Arsenal fans were backing away from the trouble, they were trying to get out of the way." | |
He said the police had taken away CCTV footage. | |
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. | |
