With the crisis entering it's fourth day, officials claim that the Kenyan military have taken control of the mall from al-Shabbab militants who attacked shoppers on Saturday morning. The militant group insists its fighters are still 'standing strong'. Dozens of people have been killed and more than 170 injured.

Volunteers have flooded the makeshift victims' centre and thousands have turned out to give blood. A message on the Twitter account of the government's disaster operations centre confirms continuing public involvement in the crisis response:

Blood donation exercise continues today. Uhuru Park is the main center in Nairobi, along with KNH and private hospitals.
