A maths teacher at a Swansea secondary school who had been suspended following an allegation he assaulted a child has been sacked. David Aldridge, head of Year Eight at Olchfa School, Sketty, was arrested 10 months ago. In February this year police said that no charges would be brought against him, but he remained suspended from his post on full pay. Mr Aldridge is appealing against his dismissal from the 1,900-pupil school. Following his suspension, Mr Aldridge's pupils were split between other classes. A spokeswoman for Swansea Council said: "Mr Aldridge has been dismissed by the school and has appealed against the decision. "That process remains ongoing and, in accordance with the disciplinary policy, he remains on full pay until the appeal process is complete." |
