A 25-year-old man has appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after an aggravated burglary at a house in County Antrim. | |
Steven McClintock, from Rocavan Meadow in Broughshane, is accused of assaulting the man who owns the house on Carniny Road, Ballymena. | |
He was hit on the head with a metal object during the burglary which took place in the early hours of Thursday. | |
Mr McClintock, who was also charged with burglary, was remanded in custody. | |
The court heard the accused stole an Audi car worth £9,000, a laptop computer, a mobile phone and house keys from the property. | |
He also had a metal bar in his possession. | |
The homeowner needed hospital treatment for the head injury he sustained during the break-in. | |
Mr McClintock, who is unemployed, did not make an application for bail. | |
He is due to return to court next month. | |
Two other men aged 20 and 28 who were arrested over the burglary have since been released on bail pending further enquiries. |
