A 25-year-old man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after an aggravated burglary at a house in Ballymena, County Antrim. A 25-year-old man has appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after an aggravated burglary at a house in County Antrim.
He was one of three men arrested after the break-in at Carniny Road during the early hours of Thursday. Steven McClintock, from Rocavan Meadow in Broughshane, is accused of assaulting the man who owns the house on Carniny Road, Ballymena.
A man who was in house at the time was hit on the head with a metal object. He was hit on the head with a metal object during the burglary which took place in the early hours of Thursday.
The 25-year-old is also charged with burglary and is due in court on Saturday. The other men were released on bail pending further enquiries. Mr McClintock, who was also charged with burglary, was remanded in custody.
The court heard the accused stole an Audi car worth £9,000, a laptop computer, a mobile phone and house keys from the property.
He also had a metal bar in his possession.
The homeowner needed hospital treatment for the head injury he sustained during the break-in.
Mr McClintock, who is unemployed, did not make an application for bail.
He is due to return to court next month.
Two other men aged 20 and 28 who were arrested over the burglary have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
