Star Wars pet clothing range has puppies feeling the force
http://www.theguardian.com/film/2013/sep/19/star-wars-pet-clothing-range Version 0 of 1. Good news for four-legged Star Wars fans. A new range of officially-endorsed chew-toys and doggy/moggy apparel has gone on sale in the US. Petco's Star Wars Pet Fans collection comes with an official endorsement from LucasFilm, the company bought by studio Disney for $4.05bn last year. It includes a range of collars, dog "hoodies", and other apparel which can be used to transform Fido and Felix instantly into bonafide carriers of the Star Wars flame. There are even headpieces which purport to give pets Yoda ears or Leia "bun" hair-dos. "Whether pets prefer the company of Chewbacca or a Jedi like Yoda, or instead enjoy the dark side with Darth Vader, or play it neutral like Boba Fett, these hoodies are sure to keep dogs sporting their Star Wars spirit all year," said Petco. "Many Star Wars fans have taken it upon themselves to create fantastic costumes for their pets, and now Petco offers products that are not only creative and fun, but also safe for pets," a spokesperson told the Hollywood Reporter. The Star Wars pet collection arrives just in time for dogs and cats to join in a new wave of fascination for the long-running space saga. Disney plans a new Star Wars film every year from 2015, with a new trilogy of movies split by "origins" films potentially focusing on the early lives of iconic characters such as Yoda, Han Solo and Boba Fett. The stars of the original trilogy, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Leia) and Harrison Ford (Solo), have all been tipped to return to the series. Rumours that they all have puppies this time round are as yet unfounded. Our editors' picks for the day's top news and commentary delivered to your inbox each morning. |
