Israeli soldiers have killed three Palestinians in clashes in the West Bank, according to Palestinian sources.

Mohammed Zakarneh, a member of the Islamic Jihad militant group, was killed in the village of Qabatya, close to the city of Jenin.

An Israeli army spokesman said Israeli troops opened fire on militants setting up explosive devices.

Two stone throwers, 18-year-old Hani Smadi and Ezzedine Kmeil, 16, were killed in the same village soon after.

They shot dead after throwing stones at Israeli army jeeps, Palestinian security sources said.

The Israeli army has not commented on the shooting of the two teenagers.
