The man, Ji Zhongxing, had not intended to set off an explosive, his lawyer said, according to online reports of the trial. No one was injured in the blast, which took place on July 20, except Mr. Ji, and he was wheeled into the courtroom on Tuesday on a stretcher. Mr. Ji had been trying to call attention to grievances against officials in the southern city of Dongguan, whom he accused of having beaten him. Police officers tried to stop Mr. Ji from carrying out his protest, which unfolded in Terminal 3, before the explosion took place.
