House explosion in Beulah, Ceredigion like 'bomb' going off | |

An investigation is continuing into what caused an explosion that destroyed a house in Ceredigion. | |
Fire crews were called to what they believed was a two-storey detached property in the village of Beulah on Saturday at around 21:00 BST. | |
Shocked neighbours said the explosion was like a "bomb going off". | |
Nobody was hurt and it is understood the owners are away. Mid and West Wales Fire Service said the cause of the blast was not yet known. | |
Neighbour Geraint Davies said: "I was watching television and there was one horrendous bang - I thought the house had fallen down. | |
"But when I went out to look I couldn't see anything so I went out on the road and I looked up and I could see that the house house next door had disappeared." | |

Mr Davies immediately called the police. | |
He said the police were "very suspicious that gas had ignited". | |
Another neighbour, Wyn Thomas, who carried out work on the property's roof about 20 years ago, said: "I can't believe so much damage has been done - it's as if a bomb has gone off in there." | |
Dai Rees, who also lives nearby, said: "I was in the house eating my supper and there was a big bang. | |

A spokesman for the fire service said a thermal imaging camera and rescue dog were used to search the property. | |
The road was closed overnight. |
