Three charged in wheeled bin man case Three charged over Ballymena bin 'torture' case
(about 5 hours later)
Three people have been charged with attempted murder following the discovery of an injured man in a wheeled bin in Ballymena on Tuesday. Three people from Ballymena have appeared in court charged with attempted murder following the discovery of an injured man in a bin.
The two 26-year-old men and a 20-year-old woman are also charged with false imprisonment. Teri Lau of Dunclug Park, David Roddy Patterson of Glendun Drive, both 26, and Paula Wilson, 20, of Millfield were also charged with false imprisonment.
They have been remanded in custody to appear before Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday. The victim, 20, was found in a taped-up wheeled bin at Sentry Hill on Tuesday.
Another person who had been questioned about the incident has been released on police bail pending further inquiries. A police officer said the incident was linked to a drink and drugs fuelled party over several days in Dunclug.
The victim, thought to be in his 20s, had a suspected broken arm and leg. The police officer told Ballymena Magistrate's Court that the victim, who was found naked in the County Antrim town, had been beaten by several people in the bathroom at the house party.
A man walking his dog found the man, beaten and nude, in the taped-up wheeled bin near Sentry Hill. He said the victim's injuries were such that it looked like he had been tortured.
The two men were remanded in custody and the woman was released on bail. They will appear in court again on 3 October.
