Firefighters are dealing with a major blaze at a former school in County Londonderry. A fire officer in County Londonderry said he believes arsonists may have been behind the fire at a former school.
The fire, at the old St Peter's High School in Creggan in Derry, broke out just before 2100 BST on Wednesday. Fire officer, Mark Smith, who was at the scene said he believed it might have been started intentionally.
Police are advising residents in the vicinity of St. Peter's High School to remain indoors if possible due to smoke coming from the building. At one point up to 6 fire appliances attended the fire at old St Peter's High School in Creggan in Derry.
The fire has been contained and emergency services are at the scene. It broke out just before 2100 BST on Wednesday.
The fire was contained but firefighters remained on the scene into the early hours of Thursday.
Police advised residents in the vicinity of St. Peter's High School to remain indoors due to smoke coming from the building.
