An inquest date into the death of a police officer who was blinded by gunman Raoul Moat has been announced.
PC David Rathband was found dead seven months after he was shot by Moat, who went on the run after injuring his ex-girlfriend and killing her partner.
Mr Rathband, 43, was found hanged at his home in Blyth, Northumberland, in February 2011.
South Northumberland Coroner's Office said the inquest would be held on 6 January.
Moat shot Samantha Stobbart, who survived, and Chris Brown, who died, in Birtley, Gateshead on 3 July 2010, hours after his release from prison.
The next day he went on to blast Mr Rathband twice in the face as he sat in his patrol car in East Denton, Newcastle.
Following a week on the run, the former nightclub bouncer turned the gun on himself during a stand-off with police in Rothbury on 10 July.
Mr Rathband, who was described by Prime Minister David Cameron as an "extraordinarily brave man", set up the Blue Lamp Foundation to support injured members of the emergency services following his experience. |
