Youths charged with street murder

Two teenagers have been charged with murdering a father-of-six who was beaten to death in the street.

David Woods, 51, was found with serious head injuries on a path behind the 53 Degrees nightclub, near the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.

Police said he was on his way to a nearby shop when he was allegedly assaulted by a group of teenagers.

Two 17-year-old boys have been charged and are due to appear at Preston youth court on Tuesday.

The attack happened at about 1915 BST near to the Student's Union building.
