Four hundred and fifty call centre jobs have been created in Londonderry.

The positions are being created through a partnership between Stream, BT and the Post Office and recruitment has already begun.

Three hundred and fifty of the posts have already been filled and a further 100 are expected to be before Christmas.

BT has said it hopes to create a further 300 jobs in the city in the next three years.

Under a four-year deal, BT will provide telephone and broadband services to the Post Office to be sold to its customers under the Post Office HomePhone brand.

Stream has been appointed to provide the customer service interface.

Stream country manager Jeff Jennings said: "This new contract is a tremendous boost for our company, and for our community.

"We're excited about working with BT Wholesale and Post Office HomePhone, and also about bringing so many new people onboard here in Derry."
