Matthew Mordecai, 24, of Llanedeyrn in the city, admitted kidnapping and robbing Ann Dykes, 57, at Cardiff Crown Court. | |
He got into Mrs Dykes' Mercedes and forced her to drive to a cash machine and remove money. | |
The judge said she was too scared to leave her home since the incident. | |
Judge Christopher Llewellyn Jones said: "You waited in the car park for a disabled person to arrive who you could target. | |
"It must have been obvious to you that she had difficulties walking and was therefore an easy and vulnerable victim. | |
"Mrs Dykes used to be an outgoing person, but now she is too scared to leave her home. | |
"Her faith in humanity has been diminished by your actions." | |
Last April, Mrs Dykes was visiting her stepdaughter at the University Hospital of Wales hospital when she parked in a disabled bay, where the kidnapping took place. | |
The retired social worker was made to drive to the Tesco supermarket in Penarth and she told the court how she gave Mordecai her security number and he withdrew £200. | |
