A French au pair on the run from police after failing to appear in court in Cardiff in March is still updating her Facebook page and advertising for work.

Emeline Marie Essertel, who was working in Llantwit Major, Vale of Glamorgan, faces charges of fraud, taking a debit card and possessing CS gas.

Since March her Facebook profile has been updated several times.

South Wales Police launched an appeal for information after she headed to France.

Her Facebook page also details trips to Ireland and the Netherlands.

Photographs of rugby's Heineken Cup Final in Dublin between French sides Clermont and Toulon were uploaded, along with images of a two-week break in Amsterdam and a night out with friends.

She is still offering her services as an au pair online.

An advert on a recruitment website, which she last logged into on 16 April, said: "It will be eight months since I returned to France to complete my nursing degree and I would like to go back to see other countries to learn new cultures and be able to speak English as soon as possible."

Official documents show Ms Essertel appeared at Cardiff magistrates' court on 31 January charged with theft, fraud by false representation and possession of a weapon.

The theft charge related to a debit card allegedly stolen from the family home in which she was living in Llantwit Major between 19 January and 30 January this year.

The fraud charge relates to using the debit card to buy phone credit, while the third is possession of a CS gas canister in Cardiff Bay on 29 January.

Proceedings were adjourned and the au pair was released on bail until 20 March.

But a few weeks later, on 27 April, a post appeared on Ms Essertel's Facebook page saying: "En route for the Heineken Cup final" in Dublin - with 11 photographs inside the stadium also appearing on her timeline.

Another photograph posted on 28 May shows her in Dublin's Grafton Street.

On 23 June, 46 images of a road trip to Amsterdam, that she said she had enjoyed "within the past five months" were uploaded.

South Wales Police said it was still pursuing all lines of inquiry "in south Wales, London and France".

A spokesman added: "Essertel had been working as an au pair in Llantwit Major. We are appealing for information as to her whereabouts and ask anyone who can assist us with our inquiries to get in touch."

Anyone with information can contact Pc Nicola Owen at Llantwit Major police station on 01656 869447 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference number 6213 0028 933.
